I saw a 2014 Civic Si sedan today and couldn't help but notice that the new GTI's wheels are veery similar. And IMO ugly.
I still love the MK7 tho. I'm also still mad at Honda for not selling a Civic hatch in the states. Thanks VW for giving us hatch guys something lust after.

yeah that's great but they're never gonna sell it in America. Also Civics have been hideous since 05. And understand that as I say this I am a HARDCORE Honda guy. I love Honda I will stand buy them, but I'll buy a Fit over a Civic because the Fit is closer to what a Civic is actually supposed to be.
basically
This is a Honda Civic Si
This is a giant, overwieight(over 2900lbs), ugly, "trying to hard" piece of shit.
The current Honda Civic Si is like a 45 year old guy wearing skinny jeans, and listening to Linkin Park so his 16 year old son will think hes cool.

I'll be honest; though I've admired GTIs and Golf Rs/R32s for a long time, their wheels are nothing short of god-awful.

What's hilarious is that people have been making that exact argument since the early-'90s. I stumbled across a bunch of letters to the editor from an old Car and Driver where people complained about the third-gen Accord's model bloat. Then there's the road tests where each successive generation of Civic (92-95 -> 96-00) seemed a little more "distant" and lacked that Honda "charm".

I love, love love... my 07 Si. It really is a great car, fun. And my kids do think I am cool!
Honestly though, as much as I love the car it is partially because there is no real alternatives. The GTI performs the same even with the ~50hp difference, is uglier and most importantly much less reliable. Plus where it slots in price-wise I would take the incremental cost difference to a WRX.
If only the Charger came with a manual though.
Also, this is all coming from another big Honda guy. 7 so far, one was a new 08 Fit when they came out. My two favorites, the Integra and the Si by far. The really remind me of eachother in a lot of ways.

Funny you should mention you prefer the Fit, as Europe's Civic is based on it. (Actually, that's not funny at all, it's logical)
